As manager of the design arm of the company, the role entailed overseeing the design process from concept phase to construction detailing, as well as construction supervision and inspection. Day-to-day activities included liaising with clients, suppliers and consultants, leading a small team in developing designs to meet project budgets, and developing BOQ’s. Other tasks include preparation of reports and contracts, writing proposals, conducting client presentations and liaising with fellow architects, project managers, engineers, and surveyors.

As part of a small team heading the re-established Design and Build Department, my responsibilities involved developing design packages (inlcuding concept presentation, schematic design and detailed resolution) for a variety of project types in both individual and team situations. I attended design progress meetings, liaised with clients, consultants, suppliers and various other departments within the company, as well as managed costings (B.O.Q.’s, quotes and budget estimations). Additionally my role also included overseeing basic project administration, reviewing contractual documentation, as well as office management, organisation and system implementation.

Johannesburg Area, South Africa

Due to the diverse nature and size of the Earth Outdoor Living business, my role included producing B.O.Q.’s, quotes and budget estimations and effectively overseeing 34 projects, acting as liason between the Managing Director and a variety of stakeholders (including the other Landscape Architects, Clients and prospective Clients). This allowed me to participate in the value chain from start to finish.

Pretoria Area, South Africa

Specifically appointed for the project as part of a two-person team, I was responsible for the illustration and rendering of plans, perspectives and models for the Caledonian Park Proposal (Pretoria), using Adobe Photoshop and Lumion 3D Architectural Visualisation Software.
