WHO I AM: I am a thought leader, advocate, and subject-matter expert who enhances diversity, equity, compliance, risk management, and audit readiness for clients in the higher education sector. After retiring from Duke University in 2020, I joined the Center for Workplace Compliance (CWC) to lead the organization’s higher education initiative. NTLakis and its EASI consulting affiliate have been providing HR compliance consulting and support services for 30+ years. At CWC, I work with lawyers, government policy experts, and analysts to provide clients with a level of knowledge, degree of sophistication, and “inside-the-beltway” perspective that few other law or HR compliance consulting firms can offer.WHAT I DO: At CWC, the nation's leading employer association, I support the team to advise employers on effective HR and employment strategies to maintain diverse organizations, promote equity, comply with regulatory obligations, and manage sources of risk and liability. I support CWC’s initiatives for stakeholders to sustain education and training efforts by developing and facilitating workshops, seminars, conference presentations, and learning content. I serve as the CWC liaison to the Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC), a nonprofit committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion at 700+ institutions of higher education.HOW I GOT HERE: My years of work in institutional research, systems, and analytics led to a career in compliance and DEI. I gained national prominence as the AVP of EEO/AA at Duke University & Health System. I also served on the National Advisory Committee on Racial, Ethnic, and Other Populations of the U.S. Census Bureau and as an advisor to the National Industry Liaison Group Advisory Council, among many other national, regional, and local organizations.WHO I WORK WITH: I leverage my vast network of connections with universities, federal government agencies, professional associations, and industry organizations to maintain to-the-minute knowledge of regulatory developments.
