The 9-month Fellowship is open to a carefully selected cohort of Civic Leaders from across the Kansas City region (that’s you) and designed to focus specifically on education engagement and advocacy for public schools (of all types in the city, suburbs and beyond). Launching in September 2019, each of the 9 sessions will focus on specific issues within education – early childhood learning, K-12, and post-secondary – and includes school visits and engagement with regional and national experts. Program components will include:· A ‘guided tour’ of topics such as school governance, finance, accountability, discipline, and education policymaking.· An exploration of the core principles of community organizing.· An opportunity for leaders to engage with policymakers, educators, parents, and students of schools in the region.· A roadmap for fellows to participate in and increase public discourse around education and to advocate for increased educational quality.

• Defeated incumbent and elected to a leadership position for a partisan political party representing the 10th Ward in Jackson County, Missouri• Administer political initiatives within the Ward including campaign consulting, providing election materials, and facilitating the operation of primaries and elections• Work with other civic/community leaders to help economically disadvantaged youths in the Kansas City area gain access to resources to prepare for and complete a college education• Develop strategies to increase economic activity and raise wages within the county• Campaigned, and nearly won the Missouri House District 27 seat against incumbent

Builds and maintains relationships with counselors at secondary/college preparatory institutions in the Kansas City areaSchedules, organizes, and transports KIPP KC Alumni on regional college visitsUtilizes the Salesforce data management system to track graduation requirements, standardized testing scores (ACT/SAT), 1:1’s with alumni, and college application process for a caseload of 80 studentsProvides operational services such as registering daily attendance of 200+ students, designing/managing filing systems, reviewing and approving supply requisitions, and verifying visitorsImplements new administrative systems, such as Teacher Ease software, and Live School software
