Indian power distribution utilities is the key theme. This project aims to improve power distribution reliability by introducing and show casing an integrated digital data hub platform, for BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) which operates in the energy distribution sector and supplies electricity to over 6 million people, in central and east Delhi. Establishment of modern asset management system with appropriate data hub and demonstration of artificial intelligence for transformer health monitoring are two key areas of the project. This is funded by German Federal Ministry BMZ under develoPPP scheme for private public partnership.

- Collaborate with government authorities and regulatory bodies to advocate for favorable energy policies, incentives, and regulations that support the transition to sustainable energy sources.-Build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders, including government agencies, utilities, industry partners, and local communities to ensure successful project implementation.Key Responsibilities include :(A) To design and develop an upcoming project on Indian power market reform under the bilateral funding of German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The project is being developed with close collaboration with the Ministry of Power, Govt. of India.(B) To contribute to a recently sanctioned IKI (International Climate Initiative, BMWK) funded project on Energy Storage for India. The initial planning of the project is being carried out with close collaboration with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Govt of India.

Led the team engaged on the issues with E-mobility and sector coupling between transport and energy. This role had few projects in the coverage which includes an IKI funded regional project, called NDC-Transport Initiative Asia, focussing China, India and Vietnam. He was in charge of coordinating the India component for this project. This project tries to promote clean and low emission-based transportation system.

Technical lead for the project Green Energy Corridors (IGEN GEC) which aimed at integrating higher share of renewable energy into the electricity grids. In this BMZ funded bilateral project, several important milestones were achieved. Eleven REMCs (Renewable Energy Management Centres) have been established in SLDCs, RLDCs and the NLDC. Improvement of Indian Electricity Grid Code was made. Contributed to the introduction of ancillary services in India. Indigenous development of short term PV power forecasting for grid operation was successfully achieved in National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE). Several primary research studies were made including India’s first scientific investigation on the short term variability of the solar and wind resources for the country and its impact on the electricity grids, dynamic reserve dimensioning for the Southern regional grid area, distribution feeder level State Estimation and load forecasting by using artificial intelligence, ideation for virtual power plants in India etc. He was instrumental in initiating State Energy Action plan programme for GIZ India where Assam and West Bengal were the first States in India where such approach was conducted. Successfully organized the capacity building programme for the newly established REMC employees where over 200 load dispatch centre employees completed the trainings hosted at the National Power Training Institute (NPTI).

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Govt. of India launched Solar Radiation Resource Assessment (SRRA) scheme under mission mode project in 2010. Under the Indo-German Bilateral Cooperation and funded by The German Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), the SolMap project aimed towards supporting solar radiation resource assessment drives of India and investigating performances of large solar power stations in India. The project team consisted of International partner organizations PSE AG and Suntrace GmbH and national expert consultant on meteorological measurement systems. He led the Solar Mapping and Monitoring project for India where world’s largest solar radiation measurement network was established in 125 locations in India, solar radiation atlas was prepared, solar data sets were made available for solar project developers under mission mode “SRRA” project by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Govt of India. Four advanced monitoring stations received the BSRN accreditation by WMO for the first time in India. Also, Performance Benchmarking method of existing PV power plants was introduced in India.

Worked in the Energy Environment & Water Research Centre (http://eewrc.cyi.ac.cy) which was founded by MIT, USA under the CEEW (Cyprus Energy Environment Water) program and primarily focussed in the research domains on Cogeneration of Electricity and Desalinated Sea Water using Concentrated Solar Power, and solar and wind energy resource assessments. Led techno-economic assessment and financial modeling exercises under CSP-DSW project where MIT, UIUC, Electricity Authority of Cyprus, The Cyprus Regulatory Authority and The Water Development Department, Cyprus were the major partners of the project. Led LEAP based energy policy analysis exercise for Cyprus. Participated in proposal development and a curent team member of recently sanctioned European FP7 project CLIM-RUN (Climate Local Information in the Mediterranean region: Responding to User Needs); http://www.climrun.eu.Served as external technical evaluator of the research proposals for EON International Research Funding Program, 2010, Germany.

Led a research project on the role and optimization of renewable energy technologies for electrification of small islands. The study was conducted by the Systems Engineering and Grid Integration Division. Coverage included laboratory based technical tasks, field level practical works in several islands, energy economics and policy dimensions.

Team leader and member of several projects dealing with renewable energy technologies, economics and policies, energy conservation and environment improvement. Interacted with a range of clients from public/private sector and bilateral/multilateral organizations.
