Dr. Indraneil Mukherjee is a Program Director and Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Donald & Barbara Zucker School of Medicine, where he has been leading the AGI/MIS Fellowship and the surgical clerkship since 2021 and 2019, respectively. He is also an Associate Medical Professor at CUNY School of Medicine and a Clinical Assistant Professor at American University of the Caribbean. He has over 15 years of experience in surgery, with a focus on minimally invasive foregut and hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgery.As a surgeon at Northwell Health, he performs advanced procedures for complex gastrointestinal and abdominal wall disorders, using cutting-edge technology and evidence-based practices. He is also a co-founder of an early stage startup that develops innovative solutions for surgical education and training, leveraging his expertise in medical device design and innovation. He has won multiple awards for his inventions, including the Intel®’s Creativity Award for Best Use of Technology and the Best Design from SmartShape Design at the Cleveland Medical Hackathon in 2016. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, such as the International Journal of Surgery and the Minerva Chirurgica, and serves as an Assistant Editor and a Reviewer for several journals. He is passionate about improving surgical outcomes, advancing surgical research, and mentoring the next generation of surgeons.
