Scope of responsibilities includes hands-on machine rebuild (from frame up), programming PLCs, machine rewiring, general fabrication (welding, grinding, cutting, etc.), and precision machining. Slashed cycle time in half (7 seconds to 3.1), markedly reduced wear, improved functioning, and increased machine lifespan (and cleanliness) by designing/fabricating new machines and systems and restructuring existing machines; e.g., designed/built Wire Welder, rebuilt another, and created new alignment system that has been virtually trouble free. Consolidated numerous components (including tanks for fluid storage, plumbing, wiring) onto Rubbermaid cart; modified cart for easy access (making wall panel into a door), mobility, and field testing in small space without drilling holes. Worked not with CAD station but with graph paper, a straight edge, pencil, and my own circle template (no compass). Collaborated closely with machine shop. Designed fixtures to hold every part stocked in sample shop, enabling marking by laser-marker —a challenging project with a wide variety of shapes in a tight space. Assigned to program new laser-marker to mark everything to certain specifications, using software and laser-marker extremely susceptible to user error — increased user-friendliness and accuracy.
