Developing and shaping national planning policy related to renewable energy, sustainable buildings, design, telecommunications, economic development, retailing, town centres and rural affairs.

Taking the Bridgend Unitary and Local Development Plans through the statutory processes of policy formulation, public consultation, public inquiry (including appearance as Council witness), adoption and implementation.Preparing the evidence base to support planning policy including the scoping, commissioning and interpretation of relevant studies and surveys.Delivery and project management responsibilities of other areas of policy work, including the development of Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG), planning and design briefs,regeneration strategies and other initiatives.Staff management and professional development responsibilities.Key Milestones:Preparation of the Bridgend Local Development Plan (LDP) including formulating the Spatial Strategy and writing the energy, place-making, natural and built environment, employmentand retail sections.Overseeing the preparation of the Sustainability Appraisal (SA) / Strategic Environment Assessment (SEA) of the Bridgend LDP and personally undertaking individual site SAs for the deposit LDP.Establishment of the annual Bridgend retail and employment land and buildings survey.Personally undertaking the Bridgend Renewable Energy Assessment and Energy Opportunities Plan and Bridgend Employment Land Review.Project Management of the Pencoed Regeneration Strategy and Bridgend County District Heating Network feasibilty study
