Sole designer and developer for the web portion of a project replacing an outdated lab automation and ordering system which provided a means for in-house scientists to order oligonucleotides for research purposes (the web portion being the ordering component).Written in ASP.NET & ASP.NET AJAX, and C#.Assisted in the development of the shared middle tier.Worked extensively with the clients to gather requirements.Participated in much of the data migration from the old system, which required extensive cleanup.Responsible for much of the formal and informal testing of the web portion prior to its release.Subsequent to the project's release, responsible for the support and maintenance of the ordering site.Received an appreciation award by the head of the lab after the release.Acted in both a development and a business analyst role on a project that integrates several disparate systems and databases into one web-based central repository of information (called the Research Gateway).Created several web services in Java and C# to populate information on the site.Sole developer for the document repository portion of the site, where users can upload documents, add metadata to aid searching, find documents others have created, etc. (using ExtJS on the front-end and C# on the back-end). Also created the training materials and several of the test cases for this portion of the site.Wrote requirements compiled from multiple cross-site meetings with the core team of developers and chemists (who are the primary clients for the project).Created multiple mockups for various portions of the site in order to verify with the core team the look and feel of the site to hone development.Conducted multiple one-on-one user interface tests with chemists at both ATO and ASF (four at each site), in addition to compiling the results from those tests.

Led a high-profile project involving the creation of an application that applied certain underwriting rules in the agent's office, so as to reduce the number of ineligible applicants, and thus reducing the number of applications to be reviewed in the internal system.Trained new employees in the group, and was placed in charge of their development.In October 2002, received the "Hero Award" from Unitrin Specialty Lines Insurance for my efforts in the company.
