Currently serving as Director of Design for Engagement at Hinge Health, Ian's team designs the virtual physical therapy and user education experience for the world's #1 digital clinic for joint and muscle pain, helping people move beyond pain and reduce surgeries and opioid use.Ian was formerly VP of Design at Nex, where his team created the award-winning motion-tracking-enabled basketball training app HomeCourt, and he helped pivot the company into motion gaming to help users move more. Prior to Nex, he led the redesign of Google's Sign In and Security features that benefited over 1B users worldwide. While at Pinterest, he led the design and rollout of Buyable Pins, the company’s first commerce initiative. And before that, Ian spent seven years at Apple, designing collaboration features for iWork for iCloud, leading the redesign of global web checkout for the Online Store (which processed over $4B in sales per year) and leading the design of the first ever Apple Store app, which brought together online and retail feature sets and enabled EasyPay, Apple Retail's first self-checkout offering.Ian got his start as a production artist working in graphic design giant Saul Bass’s Los Angeles studio, and keeps that origin alive today with a meticulous attention to detail. He holds a Masters in Architecture from Princeton and is an avid letterpress printer, at least when he’s not busy grilling ribs and playing with his twins.
