Ir Dr Siu Kai Wing obtained BEng degree (Honours) in 2006, MSc (Distinction) in 2008 and PhD in 2013 from the University of Hong Kong. After doctoral training he worked at Nano and Advanced Materials Institute as Research Engineer (2014-2015) and City University of Hong Kong as Research Associate (2015), he joined HKU as postdoctoral fellow since 2015. He has supervised more than 10 MSc and BEng students on their research projects. His research areas mainly cover the mechanical behaviour of materials and characterization of material properties in the atomic scale. He has published 9 papers in different international journals. He is a member of The Hong Kong Institute of Engineers (MHKIE). He is also a chartered engineer and professional member of Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, U.K. (MIMMM).Ir Dr Siu Kai Wing is the Founder and CEO of InnoSpire Technology Limited. The company has developed a mobile app called WeVoice+. This app aims at building a worldwide community consisting of volunteers and the visually impaired. This app allows visually impaired users to take pictures and send it to a group of available volunteers, who can then describe the picture back to the users via voice messages. The project has won the Championship of Hong Kong Techathon 2020 and is a winner of the Hong Kong Social Enterprise Challenge (HKSEC) in 2020. The project is supported by incubation programme of Hong Kong Science & Technology Park (HKSTP).

Provide free tuition on technology knowledge to the disadvantaged, in particular the children from underprivileged families.IntroductionWe notice that most NGOs concentrate on providing monetary resources or volunteering manpower to directly help people. Although these are good deeds, they cannot intrinsically increase the abilities of the disadvantaged or disabled. For example, distributing monetary resources may help disabled recipients purchase food and supplies for their lives, but does not necessarily provide them with long term solutions. In this situation, resources could also be used in developing artificial limbs or prosthetics (in the case of the disabled) and allow recipients of such technology to lead better lives. Therefore, we think that there is a subtle difference in charity by direct cash hand-out and by using technology to intrinsically increase the ability of the recipients. In addition, although innovation and technology are gaining importance in Hong Kong, minority groups have less access to information about innovation and technology. Therefore, we are aspired to set up a new type of nonprofit organization which uses technology to help the disadvantaged and disabled.
