CurrentI am studying how noncoding genetic variation mediates susceptibility to neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s Disease and Parkinson’s Disease. We apply single-cell sequencing technologies including ATAC-seq and RNA-seq to study postmortem patient brain samples, use machine-learning approaches to develop hypotheses about the functions of the noncoding genome, and then test these hypotheses with large-scale functional genomics assays such as MPRA and and targeted CRISPR-mediated genome editing in iPSC-derived brain cell models.
