Women's History Month Panel Discussion Participation: Breaking the Glass Ceiling

As Community Affairs Liaison, I build key relationships with community leaders and develop programs on behalf of the Wilbur Wright college campus.I oversee the operations of the Healthy Student Market, a partnership with the Greater Chicago Food Depository, and have worked in tandem with the Associate Vice-Chancellor of Legislative, Government & Community Affairs to direct the district-wide expansion of the Healthy Student Market.I also support the district-wide expansion of the Undocumented Student Community Navigator Training (USCNT), a collaboration with the National Partnership for New Americans, the National Immigration Justice Center, and the Illinois Coalition for Immigrants and Refugee Rights. In addition to the above projects, I manage a portfolio of adult education off-site partnerships in the North Side of Chicago, I have served as a member of the Advisory Board of Women Forward–a program of the Northwest Side Housing Center, and am also a member of the Wright College Equity Steering Committee.

As Community Development Manager I Identified, established, and developed relationships with community leaders and local governments; created strategic planning for community outreach, community partnerships, volunteer training, recruitment, and retention; exponentially increased and maintained the organization's presence in the community; and identified funding sources, and secured large-scale in-kind donations from local elected officials and professional sports teams.Partnerships and key groups included the Austin Chamber and Wicker Park Bucktown Chambers of Commerce, WalMart–to establish a workforce partnership in the Austin area, and the City of Chicago Department of Planning and Development Economic Development. Further, I advised the Executive Director regarding strategic fundraising initiatives, developed a Junior Board of Directors, and augmented local media coverage of organization programs and events.
