Masterthesis: "Meet my new robot best friend: an exploration of the effects of personality traits in a robot on enhancing friendship." The aim of the thesis was to investigate whether personality traits enhance the building of friendship between the NAO robot and the child. Two robots were used, one with the character traits Extraversion and Agreeableness and one without character traits. A total of 16 children (mean age 7.56) participated in the study. A questionnaire and two implicit measures (Child Implicit Association Test and Grab Bag Test) were used to gather data about the intelligibility, friendship, trust and preference for the robots. The hypothesis that children will notice the difference between the two robots, was confirmed. Children preferred the personality robot over the standard robot, albeit statistically insignificant. In contrast to predictions, adding the character traits did not result in an enhanced friendship between the NAO robot and the child.

Research report: "Investigation of Implicit Measures of Negative Affect in a Laboratory Setting."The aim of the internship was to test whether implicit measures would be more sensitive to change in affect in a laboratory environment. A total of 30 individuals participated in the study. In the first experiment the IPANAT was made suitable for the Dutch population and extended to 24 words so it could be used for repeated measures. Subsequently, in the second experiment, the implicit measures: Emotional Stroop task and the extended IPANAT and the explicit measures: PANAS and STAI were collected before and after affect inducing film clips.

The aim of the internship was to write a thesis about methods to measure the experience of leisure activities.
