About Irum Rashid

Spanning over a period of more than fifteen years, my professional career includes working from consultant to managerial level. Throughout my career, my role in one or the other way revolves around planning, designing, developing, coordinating and managing projects and programs. Considering management, coordination and operations my forte, my major role has always been focused on managing projects/programs administratively at departmental and core level. This includes overall management and supervision from start to finish along with a streamlined monitoring and reporting system. Being a Program Manager/HoD at Aman Institute of Vocation Training (AIVT), my responsibilities included smooth functioning of my department and ensure the implementation and completion of all targeted activities falling under my department. My core responsibilities revolved around maintaining a professional relationship with stakeholders and partners, financial management and project management. My position of Assistant Manager at the Aga Khan University – Institute for Educational Development, Karachi provided me an opportunity to represent and manage the “Strengthening Teacher Education in Pakistan (STEP) along with the assistance of Project Manager. Being an Assistant Manager of STEP project, I was responsible for supervising my district management teams who were working in 10 districts of Sindh and Balochistan. Besides, I was also supervising all the project related operations in terms of implementation of project activities as per the annual work plan. To contribute technically to the development of the STEP Project strategies with a special focus on gender mainstreaming and women empowerment was also one of my key responsibilities. While working on this position, one of my major role was to coordinate and communicate with all concerned stakeholders. Working on a position of “Regional Manager-Gender and Development” in organization like Aga Khan Rural Support Program (AKRSP), my contributions at program level, were towards better partnership approaches and strengthening the capacities of local organizations particularly women focused, as an effort to establish a gender balanced society. Being on the same regional position my contribution, at organizational level, has been very instrumental in drafting and finalizing “Gender Strategy for Baltistan” region. My experience in project/program management & supervision, service delivery and coordination of developmental activities has provided me with an all-round expertise in the development field.
