As a Community Advisor (CA), also known as a Resident Assistant (RA), my primary responsibilities are in community building, administration, on-call/crisis response, and departmental & campus support. I am responsible for establishing a community environment that is focused on student learning and student success. In order to meet the needs of my residents, my roles are to be an educator, advisor, mentor, and educational programmer. My duties to University Student Housing are to offer Quality Customer Service, Adaptability, Accountability, Conflict Resolution, & Management of Fiscal Responsibilities.

The Honors College First-Year Experience (FYE) is a program that helps new Honors Students transition successfully into university life. As an FYE Mentor, I guide Honors Students through their first semester and help integrate them into the Honors and Texas Tech Community. I help students find and utilize campus resources and introduce them to the many involvement and enrichment opportunities within Honors. I also lead a Learning Community Group (LCG), a safe place to introduce the vocabularies of differences and multiplicity, to encourage engagement in difficult dialogues. This helps the students further hone, develop, and refine their communications skills during their college careers. I also facilitate Special Topic LCG sessions to give students the vocabulary to deal with issues they will face in a diverse and nuanced global society.

As a Summer Conference Staff, I work for Texas Tech University Student Housing and assist in the daily management and operations of Residence Halls for Summer Conferences & Summer Camps. I work with other members of University Student Housing in order to create a positive environment for all campus guests. Many times, the Summer Conference Staff is the first contact individuals experience in the residence halls and at Texas Tech University in the Summer. As a Research Assistant, I assist Dr. Guigen Li and his team in his Medicinal Chemistry Lab researching Synthesis of 3D Multilayer Chirality and their Application in Asymmetric Catalysis. I perform thin layer and column chromatography, extractions, filtrations, distillations, and instrumental analysis of isolated compounds in the lab.

Spring 2022Student Intern for Senior Project Manager Dianne Burnett in the Marketing and Communications Department at Grace Surgical Hospital of Covenant Health. Engaged in strategic initiatives to enhance both patient and physician experiences. Participated in meetings to refine survey delivery strategies, crucial for maintaining funding from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and aligning with the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) standards. A critical project involved researching and advocating for the development of outdoor rest areas for staff, aiming to enhance staff well-being and performance based on current literature. Explored the adoption of the High-Reliability Leadership Method to reduce preventable errors.Student Intern for Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer Kevin McConic. Contributed to impactful projects aimed at addressing health disparities within Lubbock's Latin and Black communities, explicitly focusing on diabetes and hypertension. Employed statistical modeling to analyze Covenant Health's employee data, categorizing by race and ethnicity to inform workplace diversity strategies. Conducted health equity research to support the development of a comprehensive Health Equity Outreach proposal and explored DEI educational research, investigating effective implementation and application of DEI training in healthcare settings.Fall 2022Student Intern for Intermediate Care Department. Worked under the guidance of Performance Improvement Project Manager Gabriel Ramirez and Charge Nurse Andrew Johnston. Primary responsibilities included collecting qualitative and quantitative data through patient rounding, crucial for evaluating and enhancing patient experiences. Participated in standardized nurse care projects by gathering data to assess nurse work experiences and performance.

The Tech Leadership Institute (TLI) (also known as First Year Leadership Institute (FYLI)) is an 8 week program. As a mentor, I help new students develop their personal and professional skills so they can be more successful both in and out of the classroom and have a positive impact on the Texas Tech community. More specifically, I help students get involved, build their resume, develop leadership skills, and how to make the most out of their time at Texas Tech.

Leveraged specialized software platforms like Crystal Practice Management and Solutionreach to efficiently manage patient data and support clinical operations. Assisted optometrist by following detailed clinical directives, which encompassed auto-refracting and measuring intraocular pressures and managing contact lens and glasses dispensing and refills. Enhanced patient communication and streamlined appointment scheduling improved patient engagement and operational efficiency in a fast-paced optometric setting.
