As former Chairman and owner of a football club, I had to work within a team to make final decisions that are in line with the club constitution. I worked alongside a secretary and treasurer to ensure this was done effectively. Decisions had to be made regarding finances, employment of other club and board members and legalities. I was always present for these decisions and I worked with the team to come to a consensus. I was personally able to find a sponsor for the club which funded our kits for the first two years.As this role was constant, I would regularly meet with the secretary and treasurer to review our performance to ensure the club was running effectively. I carried this role out alongside my full time employment.

Upon initial employment, I was responsible for stock replenishment which was required to be completed within a time set by management. I began on a part time contract, so I then decided to take training to further develop my skills. I was then rewarded a full time contract which was relevant to the training I had undertaken. I was one of the select colleagues responsible for a duty called ‘code control’. This was ensuring all of the products within my department were within their use-by date to ensure my store was trading legally. As one of the few colleagues responsible for this skill, I was often chosen to train new colleagues within this area. Towards the end of my employment, I was asked by my store manager if I was interested in progressing into management. I decided to take the first steps within this progressional opportunity. This was having regular meetings with my line manager on where I can improve to ensure I become an effective leader, as well as taking on further training in line with the management job description. However, I was then offered employment in the Home Office, so my progression within Sainsbury’s was stopped and I continued my normal duties until the end of my employment in December 2022.
