I believe healthy moral imaginations build healthy communities, and that truthful stories cultivate healthy imaginations. So I do my best to tell truthful stories. For my last couple jobs, I have managed to get paid to do my favorite things: meet people, ask questions about their lives, write about it. I have interviewed people from all over Central Appalachia. People continually prove to be endlessly interesting, smart, and surprising. Most recently, I worked as the StoryTown Assistant at the McKinney Center, a multipurpose arts center. In this role I produced a narrative podcast, hung art shows, helped coordinate events, cultivated community relationships, and distributed flyers, among other things. I also interviewed over 35 people. A few of my favorites were the former president of the International Storytelling Center, a group of hippies who have been friends since the ‘70s, and a Papa John’s employee who loves hearing the deer and birds on his in-laws’ family land. I hope to work for an organization that faithfully tells the truth. This goal will be aided by an education grounded in effective communication and research. Working as a writer, editor, and podcast producer has prepared me to communicate clearly and truthfully in many roles. I graduated from Milligan University with a B.A. in English and Humanities with a concentration in Religious Studies. At the website above you can find work samples and read more about me.
