I am the brand ambassador for Izzy Wheels a company which designs detachable wheel covers for wheelchairs so that a persons wheelchair can match their different outfits. I began my role as brand ambassador in 2016 and I continue to hold this position. I have gained extensive media experience through my role with Izzy Wheels while doing international and national television and radio interviews as well as interviews for print media like The Irish Times, The Guardian and Vogue Magazine. I am extremely passionate about increasing disability representation in the media so that there is a balanced narrative to encompass the wide range of views and experiences of disabled people within print publications and television. I was named on Forbes 30 Under 30 list by Forbes Magazine for my work with Izzy Wheels. I was also the first ever disabled woman to be featured on Instagram Officials Instagram story for my work with Izzy Wheels.I am also currently undertaking an internship with the Independent Living Movement Ireland as their social media assistant. ILMI is a disabled peoples organisation meaning that it is run entirely by disabled people for disabled people. Through my role in ILMI I have gained lots of knowledge about the social model of disability and have gained a very valuable insight into a range of different disabilities and impairments- not just my own (being spina- bifida). Through my work with ILMI I have engaged in lots of team work as well as solo work. I helped organise a webinar for International Womens Day. My role in organising this very successful event was in communications- in other words ensuring that as many people knew about our event in advance as possible and that all of the advertising around the event took place at the appropriate times. I also collaborated with my fellow committee members on different sub- committees to ensure that our advertisements for our event contained all of the relevant information. Through my work in ILMI I have also written multiple opinion pieces about various events I have attended through the organisation which were published in their monthly newsletter which is shared with all of the members of the entire organisation.I graduated in 2021 from the National University of Ireland Galway with a degree in Sociology and Politics and French.
