In Dr. Stephen Liberles's lab I am studying how the sensory nervous system regulates changes in blood pressure that occur with postural changes.

Hold twice-weekly study sessions for students in Protein Biochemistry and CellularMetabolism and The Chemistry of Biomolecules courses ● Each session is attendedby about 4-13 students ● Answer questions and review topics including properties ofwater (hydrophobic effect, pKa, pI, etc.), biochemical thermodynamics, protein foldingand structure, enzyme mechanisms and kinetics (Michaelis Menten), carbohydratestructure and function, lipid structure and function, DNA structure, transcription,translation, and metabolism (including fermentation and lipid metabolism)

Dr. Kyle Broader's lab focuses on synthesizing polymeric materials that will be responsive to specific biological conditions. My independent research project focuses on synthesizing a modifiable modular material that is sensitive to reactive oxygen species to be utilized as a drug delivery vehicle. In the lab, I have gained experience with literature research, setting up organic synthesis reactions, performing extractions and dehydrations, and performing and analyzing TLC, GC-MS, LC and NMR.I also had the opportunity to attend the Spring 2022 American Chemistry Society Conference where I presented a poster on my independent research.

Collaborated with professor and fellow PLUMS mentors to create worksheets and lead study sessions for first years enrolled in the introductory biology course.
