Working at the White Company as a Temporary Sales Advisor during the busiest time of the year for retail companies allowed me to enhance several of my abilities, such as working under pressure and customer service. I had duties that ranged from taking payments to dealing with customer enquiries and maintaining the different sections of the store organized. I also had to work as a team member, performing duties beyond those of a sales assistant, such as product assistance and dealing with stock responsibilities, while managing multiple checkout stations.

Working as a Language Consultant at Park Idiomas I was able to successfully plan classes for students at different levels, while also managing to quickly recognize each of the student's strengths and assessing the learning process each one responded to better. I was also responsible for enforcing rules and leading a classroom, constantly managing to maintain organized records on each and every student's progresses, difficulties, and rhythm. Unfortunately my time there was short due to my relocation from Brazil to the UK, but I was able to learn incredible values while working there, such as the importance of being able to rely on co-workers, as well as being available to provide support to them.

I worked for two years as a volunteer assistant at a public nursing home in Brazil, where I had to manage the director's daily schedule and emails, and I would also manage his official schedule. I was able to organize his schedule by making use of tools such as flagging, categorizing emails, making sure unwanted mail such as newsletters are directed as junkmail, and color coding; all of these where successful avoiding wasted time by duplicating responses; making it easier to spot the issues that had to be prioritized, and making better use of not only my time but also my manager's time.

During my volunteer work in local communities is where I first gained a sense of the importance of working and being part of a team; due to the lack of resources those communities were granted, it was of utmost importance that each one of us could rely on each other’s expertise and abilities to help us better perform our duties and achieve our goals. Working at such an environment also helped enhance my creativity as I had to work with a restricted amount of resources and materials.I’ve had to deal with children in need, which is where I developed a great passion for helping the marginalized youth, as I witnessed first-hand the effects caused by the lack of opportunities, a healthy home environment, and quality education can cause to those who are more vulnerable.
