As a Finance representative for IT & Operations and Distribution, I was responsible for producing budgets, monthly expense reports and servicing the needs of business managers at all levels. I became the finance point of contact concerning Group headcount budgets and reporting (1,000 + employees).During my time at Henderson, the systems used by Finance were overhauled meaning I have gained greater system exposure and also got the opportunity to develop and implement a bespoke budgeting system.An aspect of the job I particularly enjoyed was business partnering which involved learning about my business areas and collaborating with managers to achieve business goals. My biggest asset in this role was my client skills and being able to build relationships.

I supported the Group Accountant to produce reports for management and the stock market. I also assisted in representing Finance in the Corporate, Assurance and Legal business areas.A key part of my role was producing the monthly performance report for management and Board members. My participation grew from inputting wording changes to owning the whole document. I loved the collaboration involved with making this document.Other aspects of this role included managing headcount for my assigned business areas, setting budgets and expense reporting. I also was given the opportunity to produce some statutory financial reports for group subsidiaries that supported my ACCA studies.

I was responsible for invoicing clients on a monthly or quarterly basis and helped match cash to accounts receivable invoices.I started helping out the Group accountant with expense reporting while in this role and eventually as I took on more work, I was transferred to assist him full time.

In addition to providing the management information team with support on adhoc jobs, I was responsible for creating and updating a spreadsheet on key fund information and producing the daily sales report.

I supported the Consumer Products and Retail Quantative team by creating charts and tables on reports sent to clients. I also verified and analysed data and wrote commentary on reports for clients.
