About Isabelle Pinard
My research, which focused on medieval literature and the editing of medieval manuscripts, took me from Paris to Montreal, Oxford then Toronto. For over 6 years, I worked as head technical editor for 2 philosophy and theology academic journals in Paris (Revue des Sciences philosophiques et théologiques & Revue Istina) under the supervision of their respective editors-in-chief. This job, as throughout my academic career, involved a great deal of independent research, resourcefulness and initiative, as we navigated from print to new digital formats and evolving communication platforms. In 2016, I joined Sitel Group as lead French and English writer within the Communications and Marketing team. I was responsible for all off- and online channels' content, events' coverage, the group's white papers, newsletters, client interviews as well as its biannual corporate magazine. I now work as a freelance writer and editor. I have always adhered to the exacting standards of print media and defended its continued value, while embracing the ways in which digital technologies keep challenging our editorial and marketing strategies. It’s arguably the most exciting time to create quality content that's at once original and authentic, not just edgy but ahead of the curve, grabs attention and makes a lasting impression.I am a fast learner, disciplined worker, discerning reader and sharp writer in English and French. Alongside my doctoral studies in Toronto, I worked as teaching and research assistant, a student don, a wedding planner and a subtitling and dubbing scripts editor for SDI Media. I have since continuously worked as a translator and writer, namely for the Focus on French cinema festival in NY and ran their blog featured on Unifrance’s website. Besides reading and writing, my passions include music (I'm part of psychedelic rock band), film and paragliding. Currently living in France, I have spent over 13 years abroad & am keen to move in or outside Europe.

My responsibilities include the complete editorial production of the content of our two journals (rewriting, copyediting, translating and formatting), as well as cover everything from honing editorial strategies, soliciting articles, communicating with our authors, relaying between the two directors and their respective editorial committees, preparing and debriefing committee meetings, communicating with publishing houses and delivering the final product to our publisher and router, and finally all the administrative tasks that frame the daily operations of our journals: handling subscriptions, assisting the team of sales and accounting, website and blog management, community management, publicity, and organization of conferences and colloquia. After successfully transitioning the RSPT online, we are now in the process of converting the Revue Istina to a digital format and are redeveloping our website so it may include an online boutique. This project involves the retroconversion of our issues for digitalization and elaboration of all the functional specifications for our new website. Prior to this project, I undertook training in digital editing and code at the École des Chartes where I became familiar with TEI, XML and Xpath.
