This job involved working closely with oncologist, Dr. Limvarapuss, in order to create and manage patient health information from primarily follow-up appointments. This job involved communicating with office staff, patients, and health professionals in order to ensure quality patient care and documentation of that care.

During my employment in this job I gathered extensive experience communicating with patients about their health, organizing and filing patient charts, helping with referrals to other physicians, and taking patients’ vitals.

This experience centered upon researching the associations between memory and tuberous sclerosis. This lab experience involved working under the supervision of a post-doctorate faculty member in the development of a scientific publication. I took a leadership role in the lab and was in charge of the management of our group. I was able to work with a mouse model, present our research to the scientific community, and influence the process of scientific inquiry. I also learned about the importance of research overall and the process of its transition towards medical applications.

This was a student on-campus job in UCLA's student union. I worked in the store operation's office and assisted the different departments. During my time there, I was promoted to the position of supervisor. I organized day to day store operations such as sales, special events, and the lost and found. I supervised peers and ensured quality service with customers. I also worked inside the vault and made sure all the money was delivered and secured. This job required immense responsibility and I fostered trust in my co-workers, my managers, and my customers. I was able to foster my ability to adapt to stressful situations and I learned how to help calm people who are distraught.

Worked in the Store Operations of the UCLA Ackerman store to deliver quality customer service on the phone and in person.

In this experience, I learned about cryo-electron microscopy and worked to elucidate the structure of the Rotavirus under the supervision of a graduate student. I worked with computer software in order to construct three dimensional models of the capsid of the virus. I was able to develop my knowledge of electron microscopy techniques and learned about the process of uncovering novel, clinically relevant research.

This was a resident assistant job at a detoxification and addiction center. I monitored the health of clients and reminded them when to take their medication according to a routine prescribed by their doctor. I obtained vitals and learned about the Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale. I kept detailed logs of client activity and well-being. I ensured that the clients were obtaining adequate nutrition and listened to concerns they had about their stay. I worked closely with medical staff including a physician I was able to shadow.

I served as a marketing assistant for a test preparation and tutoring company called The Princeton Review. I answered calls, filed, and advertised our products to customers. I also coordinated with many different departments to ensure all our events were effectively promoted and executed. I advised customers on our products regarding professional exams, such as the MCAT, and high school standardized tests, such as the ACT. This experience allowed me to grow in my communication and organization skills.
