  • Design For Change India
    Team Lead
Design For Change India Jan 2020 - Jun 2021
Centre Point School, Katol Road, Nagpur, Maharashtra, India
As our third DFC Project, we aimed to run a campaign to make learning more accessible to underprivileged children whose families cannot support their education beyond a certain threshold.Due to the unexpected news of the COVID-19 Pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, we had to shift our project work online and aimed to develop curated learning modules in Hindi with the help of PowerPoint and video editing softwares. We leveraged the existing educational resources present in the school to develop content and worked towards personalisation and simplification of the same. We used innovative strategies such as virtual street plays to create general awareness about our campaign. We were able to gain support and endorsement by the then Minister of School Education of Maharashtra, Smt. Varsha Gaikwad.
  • Design For Change India
    National Lead
Design For Change India Nov 2019 - Dec 2019
Rome, Italy & The Vatican City
My team's project: "Creating an Urban Oasis" was selected by DFC among the Top 100 stories of change, globally. A select team of volunteers from our team, led by teachers and myself as the team lead, were invited to present our story of change at the DFC ICAN Children's Global Summit in Rome, Italy. While representing my team as well as my country at the international level, I interacted with teams from across the world including countries like Ghana, Poland and Singapore. I learnt about the different social challenges faced by communities across cultures, and how STEM combined with social responsibility was empowering people to solve these problems. We presented our solution and answered questions posed by the community related to our project.
  • Design For Change India
    Coordinator Of Volunteers
Design For Change India Jul 2018 - Nov 2019
Centre Point School, Katol Road, Nagpur, Maharashtra, India
I was the Student Coordinator of Volunteers for the school's second DFC Project. We undertook the challenge to creatively redesign a plot of wasteland near our school into a modern urban oasis.I interacted with architects specialising in sustainable city design, police officials, commercial vehicle drivers who parked their vehicles around the land and senior citizens who used the surrounding area for morning and evening walks.Along with the team, I understood the grass-root situation of the land. We developed a strategy based on the DFC Principles of Feel, Imagine, Do and Care, in order to get rid of the anti-social elements using the land for unlawful purposes. We worked with government officials from the Department of Forests, architects and labourers to transform the plot of land into a safe walking space for anyone who wishes to use it.

I was selected as a student candidate by the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Nagpur Chapter to assist a team of NEERI scientists and researchers in scientific research work. I worked on a variety of projects including solar disinfection systems for potable water and study for characterisation of flue gas from point source and abatement measures for Sulphur - dioxide at 1210MW and 1500MW units of M/s. Khaperkheda Thermal Power Station (KKTPS), Nagpur.Through these projects, I got the opportunity to represent NEERI Nagpur at the India International Science Festival, 2019, at the Biswa Bangla Convention Center in Kolkata. As a student assistant, I helped give an overview of our work to visitors, scientists and fellow researchers.
  • The New York Academy Of Sciences
    Team Member
The New York Academy Of Sciences Jun 2018 - Nov 2018
    Nagpur, Maharashtra, India
I worked on a Junior Science Academy Project associated with The New York Academy of Sciences. The challenge was based on nutrition of women and children in India. Our tech team developed an app called 'Microlator' to track nutritional requirements and food intake of pregnant women in Melghat (rural area near Nagpur). The second part of our solution included holistic research on the existing medicinal and nutritional infrastructure around Melghat. We surveyed renowned doctors and nutritional experts in the city to find the optimum and logistically feasible ingredients to construct a hypothetical 'Health Basket' to be distributed by the government to those in need in rural areas. As a team member, working with Stanford pre-collegiate alumni and fellow schoolmates was a contrasting yet enriching journey. It opened me up to an avenue of new learning experiences.
