I work in the Home First team within Adult Services. This entails visiting clients at home and Hospital to complete Care Act Assessments. My remit is to help expedite people leaving hospital with the correct level of care in place. Although I can be sent anywhere within Dorset I'm linked to the West Team and so mainly work in Dorset County Hospital and Westhaven and Bridport Community Hospitals; although I have worked in Poole General Hospital too.This entails visiting with patients who are deemed medically fit for discharge but can't go home without support and discussing their needs. I use a person centred approach to encapsulate them within the forms required (without losing their humanity), determine the level of care and search for that care. This could be at home, in a care home or a nursing home. I then follow up with them to ensure they are settled and we have the right care in place before passing them to the local teams.

My disabilities have gotten the better of me.... I hope it's temporary but who knows....

I'm responsible for supporting the design of, and coordinating the launch of, new products and maintaining all the existing training products in St John Ambulances portfolio (including all the resources relating to these). I provide subject matter expertise and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

I create training materials for use on first aid, health and safety and leadership and management courses and update training materials as required. I design and run national training events both internally and externally. I project manage, from initial inception through to launch, a variety of courses/materials. I am the main contact for St John Ambulance with JAUPT and maintain approval status with them for our Driver CPC courses.I am a spokesperson for St John Ambulance and give TV, Radio and telephone interviews and proof/approve texts on demand.
