I mainly worked to develop and expand Greo's "Evidence Centre", the largest active digital library of information and knowledge about gambling and its harms. I also performed systematic searches for evidence reviews, developing a broad knowledge and expertise of grey literature on gambling.

• Develop new functionalities, manage data quality, and provide technical support for the Consortium of California Herbaria (CCH), an online database of two million plant specimen records• Script data loaders in Perl to standardize data from over thirty different sources for the CCH portal• Write functional requirements, perform testing and do Python development for CollectionSpace, an open source collections management software under development at Berkeley• Serve as webmaster, IT support, and cybersecurity contact for a university research unit

Database and PHP web development for the Jepson eFlora

• Planned and executed a project with a dispersed team to convert an MS Access database of over 90,000 plant records to the “Darwin Core” international standard for biological data• Researched Darwin Core terms to ensure accurate mapping to a new database structure• Reviewed and cleaned large batches of specimen records for publication using Google Refine• Trained and managed two summer staff who worked on record cleaning• Published all specimen records to the Canadensys specimen data aggregator• Regularly performed SQL queries to provide data and reports for curators and graduate students

• Analyzed both digital and paper geographic resources to convert textual descriptions of localities into geographic coordinates• Performed other specimen processing tasks including photographing specimens and entering label data

• Generated digital images of preserved specimens, and entered relevant image information into a database• Maintained high image generation and data entry throughput while minimizing errors• Solved data management and database issues when senior staff members were unavailable• Wrote detailed digitization protocol as a reference document for supervisors and future technicians

• Catalogued RBG’s educational collection of preserved plant specimens• Researched cultivated varieties of lilacs as part of RBG’s Lilac Collection Rarity Assessment• Performed general curatorial duties for the main preserved plant collection (locating specimens for visitors, creating labels for incoming specimens etc.)• Trained other volunteers to do technical tasks

• Created informative entries for a Drupal-based website of the library’s geospatial datasets, with a focus on flexible searchability• To accompany each dataset, created an intuitive “demo” using the ArcMap GIS software package, further facilitating student discovery of library resources• Processed students’ geospatial data requests for “next day delivery”• Worked independently with very little supervision during most shifts
