During my internship at the Design and Innovation Centre (DIC), I got the opportunity to work on advanced motor control strategies in real-time system simulations, contributing to various research and development projects in the electrical and electronics domain. My key responsibilities and achievements included:• Motor Control Systems: Applied advanced motor control techniques such as Field-Oriented Control (FOC), Direct Torque Control (DTC), and Model Predictive Control (MPC) to enhance the performance of electric machines.• Simulation and Real-Time Systems: Utilized MATLAB Simulink, Opal RT, and RT lab for the simulation of control systems, working with software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments to test in a real-time environment.• Noise Mitigation in 5 phase PMSM: Led a research project focused on noise mitigation in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM), using PI control and MPC for improved noise reduction and precision control.• Documentation and Reporting: Prepared detailed reports on research findings, providing data-driven insights and recommendations for future development in motor control systems.This internship allowed me to gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge motor control strategies and real-time system simulations, significantly expanding my technical skill set and deepening my understanding of electric motor drives. It also provided me with an opportunity to collaborate on meaningful research, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
