Tradeprint is a digital printing company, and my role as an IT Technician means I deal with approximately 50 different types of software applications & hardware. I respond to first- and second-line support queries for our staff members (remotely and face to face) through an electronic service desk. I then troubleshoot and work efficiently and effectively to resolve their IT issues in a systematically. Much of this is done independently. I have gained experience and knowledge with Microsoft and Linux products within an enterprise environment. In the last year, many of the business servers have been moved to a virtual and cloud computing environment. This has allowed me to see firsthand how Amazon Web Services & Hyper-V works. Although much of my work is independent, I enjoy working as part of our IT department. The small team environment has allowed for shared IT learning as well as understanding when to escalate problems. I’ve recently be tasked with deploying our company teleconferencing system allowing the business to communicate with our other business units throughout the world. This allowed me to lead a project from start to finish and gain vital experience in networking and telephony.As I work in a fast-paced business, with a growing number of staff members and network devices, one of my responsibilities has been to organise and maintain the server room set up. This has relied on my planning and organisational skills, as well as knowledge of network management. The above has cemented my degree knowledge and allowed for the application of this.

Along with my day job, I own and also manage a number of buy to let properties within the Dundee area.

As a Thermal Spray Operator, I specialise in coating components, mainly for the oil and gas industry. My responsibility is to set-up, programme and operate the thermal-spray process to produce products of the required quality using Plasma Spray, High Velocity Oxyfuel (HVOF) and Wire Arc. I am proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings. Prior to any coating, preparation is key and involves cleaning, masking and blasting, all of which require attention to detail. I pride myself on being meticulous with this process. Throughout the full coating process I constantly measure and monitor output to ensure that it is of the standard required. Doing this on a daily basis has allowed me to become highly skilled at measuring within high tolerances. Working as a Quality Control Inspector I am fully responsible for the inspecting and measuring of the products and components throughout the whole process. I ensure that they conform to the quality required by the customer, including measuring to the correct tolerance, NDT inspection (Liquid Penetrant), use of monochromatic light machine to guarantee flatness and ensure surface finish. In addition I ensure full compliance with the health and safety regulations.

I managed a number of properties on landlords’ behalves where I ensured the smooth process of tenants moving in and out of properties, carried out inspection reports and conducted inventories. I am very familiar with tenancy agreements, tenancy deposits, and the importance of liaising with both the landlord and the tenant. Carrying out the above on a daily basis not only developed my communication skills but laid down the foundation for my ability to have a fine eye for detail and be meticulous with my work.
