My responsibility is to play an active role in the economic development initiatives and activities aimed at ensuring the growth and enhancement of an integrated and broad economy for the City and wider region. I am responsible for assisting the design and delivery of projects and initiatives that align withthe City's Economic Development Strategy including buy local, small business friendly and workforce development.

Working closely with the CEO of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. I provide strategic counsel and help deliver solutions based outcomes. As part of my studies, I was required to undertake an internship. A unique opportunity arose to intern in Malaysia through Curtin University and I jumped at the opportunity. This role was particularly challenging as it required a wide range of skills. As a data entry officer, I had to precise and accurate in all my entries as I was entering sensitive information about the public. I could not afford any errors as it would result in the wrong information being stored in the database. The other part of my job involved dealing with Non Voters who received infringement notices for not voting in the election. I had to learn how to de-escalate very irate voters. I also developed my listening skills and had to learn how to synthesise information to communicate concisely with a wide variety of people. The most challenging tasks were dealing and trying to communicate with voters who had voted but had still received an infringement notice. This required a lot of patience and empathy. I enjoyed my experience working as I got to interact and work people who were more experienced than me which allowed me to learn a lot from them.

In this role, I represented The World Wildlife Fund and I was tasked with going door to door trying to fundraise and secure monthly donations for the fund's conversation efforts. I had to learn how to quickly develop a connection and rapport with people within the first 10 seconds of the interaction. As in the short period of time, I had to put them at ease so that they would listen to my pitch. I also learned how to be very precise and concise in my pitch in order to appeal to the residents to donate to the cause. In this line of work, I had to learn quickly that rejection was a part of the job and you couldn't dwell on it.
