Working with our contractors and suppliers to improve the general appeal and legibility of the network for the travelling public, whilst reducing maintenance, improving energy efficiencies, longevity, robustness and sustainability. Since 2000; walking, cycling and public transport mode share increased from 52% to just under 60%. The bus network helped change the way Londoners live and travel. This was made possible through close collaboration between us, boroughs, operators and other stakeholders with a particular focus on design.

Responsible for the design and development of TfL London Buses infrastructure furniture and products. Working with our contractors and suppliers to improve the general appeal and legibility of the network for the travelling public, whilst reducing maintenance, improving energy efficiencies, longevity, robustness and sustainability. As part of an integrated transport strategy to tackle London’s congestion and insufficient public transport capacity, bus infrastructure contributed too improved the reliability of bus journeys whilst the network was expanded. As a result, bus journeys increased by 69% between 2000 and 2010.
