Pula is an insuretech company present in 22 countries, with a radically different approach to bringing insurance solutions to the emerging markets. We target people who have probably never bought insurance before but need it; starting with smallholder farmers. Most of the poor in developing countries rely on farming as their main source of income and food and experience risks everyday as part of their livelihood, whether caused by drought, floods, flooding, pest and diseases. These exposures drive the smallholder farmers to sub-optimally invest in their farms resulting in low yields, persistent food insecurity and poverty. Beyond insurance, we provide digital enabled and low cost agronomy advisory to these farmers to increase their yields.We are thus on a mission to leverage technology to increase and protect the incomes of small holder farmers across Africa and Asia. Some of the technologies we use include remote sensing tech, satellite, machine learning, drones and mobile tech. This consequently increased the member personal development and minimized the national member turn over• Worked on a proposal in partnership with Joint Clinical Research Center (JCRC) and won a grant for 3,000 Euros from Standard Chartered Bank. The funds were used to implement a national HIV AIDS project by AIESEC in Uganda and JCRC (http://www.jcrc.org.ug/) • Developed and implemented expansion strategies to introduce AIESEC to 2 (two) new Universities in Uganda in 2010, one of these expansion Initiatives had 15 Out-Going-Exchanges (OGX) after only 3 months• Over saw National Organizational Growth in Member development, implementation of global organizational strategy together with the rest of the national team members.• I was the AIESEC Account Manager for PWC, Standard Chartered Bank, TATA consultancy and the Ministry of Youth in Uganda. These partnerships generated more than 12, 000 USD in 12 months through conference sponsorships, grants, and other fees paid after taking up global talent from AIESEC’s network of more than 110 countries.• Represented AIESEC in Uganda on several conferences in 5 countries in Africa and India. Key Achievements/Roles• Trained more than 80 Sales and Personal Financial Consultants (PFCs) in over 7 branches countrywide, how to use the Sales Management Information System (Sales MIS). • I was part of the Human Resources sub team that was responsible for the advertising of available Jobs/Job ads in the local media and also on the bank’s intranet (for the already existing workers who want to upgrade).
