Since 2015, Østvik has been developing “green” ship projects in the Norwegian maritime cluster with a strong focus on implementing sustainable, safe, reliable zero-emission energy technology onboard. Currently he is managing director at LH2 Shipping assisting ship owners to realise hydrogen-fuelled ships for shortsea and coastal operations. Previously, he has been project manager to develop, build and set into operation Norled's and world’s first liquid hydrogen-fuelled ship, M/F Hydra, where also LH2 supply chain and bunkering solutions have been developed and made operational. Earlier, he worked for NorWind 2006-2015 developing, building and installing jacket foundations for offshore wind turbines, and for LMG Marin 1995-2006 with design of car ferries, fast ferries and risk analysis. Østvik graduated as a naval architect at University of Strathclyde in 1995 where he also has a PhD in risk-based design in 2000.
