Managed all ARCO Corporate and Downstream Headquarters procurement needs. This included all spend associated with HR, IT, telecom and mobile phones, facilities management, PayPoint support, global travel services, and wholesale fuel marketing.

Served 10-years as a Naval Reserve Intelligence Officer. Provided real-time intelligence support for field operations during 1991 Gulf War, performed lead intelligence coverage of designated countries, and led the development of scenarios for joint multi-national military exercises. Attained the rank of lieutenant prior to an honorable discharge.

Managed the chemical engineering team that designed and implemented all the ARCO Cherry Point Refinery process control computing systems and applications. This included the installation of, at the time, the largest model-based delayed coker automated process control application.

Designed and implemented over seven energy and process improvement control projects at ARCO's Cherry Point Refinery that generated over $8M in annual savings each year from improved unit yields and energy efficiencies.

Performed chemical engineering unit surveillance and optimization of ARCO's Cherry Point, Washington Refinery hydrotreating and hydrogen plants. This included managing the refinery's catalyst warehouse, plus the planning and execution of multi-unit catalyst changeout projects.

This was a part-time research position (while attending Oregon State University) at a U.S. Department of Interior research facility. Provided laboratory setup, monitoring and analysis in support of advanced metallurgical research. Worked under the direction of PhD scientists who were leaders in the field of metals extraction and refining technologies.
