A Geology graduate of the University of Edinburgh, I joined Schlumberger in 1988 and retired in 2018. I worked in the UK, Ireland, Norway, USA - Alaska, India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Malaysia, Philippines and Brunei. Serving as a mud logger, pore pressure engineer, MWD Engineer, LWD engineer, Petrophysicist, Well Placement expert and Domain Champion. In 2013 I was recognised as a Principal in Schlumberger's peer vetted SETC technical ladder.Assisted clients to drill and log challenging wells, often with extensive LWD suites. Clients rely on my experience and deep knowledge of the technology when planning and executing their exploration, appraisal or development campaigns. Career achievements: first horizontal well from a semisub (North Sea 1988), World Record horizontal lateral (England 1995), First realtime LWD images and realtime geosteering process in the Middle East (Saudi Arabia 2002), First LWD realtime Sonic and Seismic while drilling services in India (2004), First remote realtime geosteering in India (Bombay High 2005), Introduced Ultradeep directional resistivity in Asia (Saudi Arabia 2009, Malaysia 2014), First geosteered Lower Palaeozoic shale wells in Saudi Arabia (2011), Pioneered thin target geosteering in thin attic oil in partially swept horizons of Ghawar and adjacent fields (Saudi Arabia 2008-2013), Introduced distance to boundary geosteering to Bahrain, proving very successful in thin faulted carbonate and clastic reservoirs (2011).
