A small independent business initially with 3 full time staff and the MD, selling Windsurfing, snowboarding and biking equipment. The role involved all aspect of retail including managing stock, merchandising and advising customers with technical information. The nature of the stock being sold involved a lot of technical information in order to sell effectively. As well as the sales side I was also responsible for maintenance and service of snowboard, ski and cycle equipment. This ranged from setting up new equipment to repairing/maintenance of customers equipment. While I was there, following staff changes, I was a key holder responsible for the shop during any holidays or absence of senior staff.
