About Justin Christensen

I am a Staff Scientist at Electro Magnetic Applications Inc. (EMA) where I am currently working in the Space Environment Radiation Effects lab. Before EMA, I was a R&D Laboratory Support Technologist at Sandia National Laboratories with six years of experience working in the Atomic sensing research group. While at Sandia I contributed to the design, development, and testing of atomic sensors for accelerometry and electrometry. I supported my team in the lab, designing and running experiments as well as functioning as a group machinist and purchaser. I received a masters degree in physics from Utah State University where I studied interactions between materials and the space-plasma environment in order to minimize adverse effects on spacecraft (i.e. spacecraft charging related damages, light pollution of optical sensors, etc.) When I'm not doing science I like going on adventures with my wife and kids. I enjoy the outdoors in all seasons, playing music, or doing electronics and woodwork.
