Duties undertaken include:• Responsible for conducting foundation inspections for a wide variety of different projects including public, private and military construction schemes. Operation of Dynamic Cone Penetrometer testing and analysis in order to determine compliance with geotechnical reports.• Managed my own on-site laboratory at Washington DC’s Water and Sewage Authority (DC-WASA), currently the largest advanced wastewater treatment plant in the world. • Soil density testing via the nuclear density method to determine compaction and placement of fill for building pads, sewer and water lines and foundations. Effective determination of soil types or stone needed in order allow for drainage that conforms to specifications. • Laboratory analysis of soil samples including CBR testing, moisture content and standard and modified proctor testing. Testing of concrete samples to assess characteristic strengths and consulting these results with general contractors and clients. • Supervised a team during the placement of auger cast piles, responsible for tracking the location, composition, depth, diameter and order of piles. Other experience with piles includes secant piling and geo-piers.• Reviewing building plans and specifications prior to visually inspecting steel and formwork. Confirmation of the accuracy of reinforcing steel ahead of large scale concrete pours. • Inspection and testing of fresh concrete, including slump testing, air content, temperature, water content, batch to placement time on projects including schools, universities, road schemes and wastewater treatment plants• Responsible for asphalt surfacing projects which involved density testing, compaction, recording and temperature readings. Demonstrated effective communication with the asphalt company in order to obtain the specifications of onsite materials. • Daily completion of fully annotated engineering reports including findings, results, sketches and calculations.
