“Caging ruthenium complexes with non-toxic ligands for photoactivated chemotherapy”. I synthesized an extensive library of chiral ruthenium complexes, which were studied using HPLC, NMR, UV-vis, and IR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and X-ray crystallography. I studied the photochemistry of the complexes, as well as their cytotoxicity in in vitro studies using 2D cancer cell cultures.Supervised by Prof. dr. E. Bouwman and Dr. S. Bonnet.˖ Synthesis, purification and characterization of a library of light-active compounds.˖ Assessment of the synthesized anticancer drugs using in vitro studies. ˖ Project management in a multidisciplinary team with (inter)national collaborators. ˖ Supervision of seven students’ research: planning experimental work and reviewing the final reports.˖ Published four peer-reviewed publications (list of publications available upon request). ˖ Regularly presented the results in (inter)national as well as internal meetings.
