CurrentIn my time working with film festivals, I found that filmmakers whose work did not make the final selection were often left in the dark about how they might improve, and get their work shown in future.I also know from my time as a writer that reliable and impartial advice for filmmakers outside the mainstream is virtually non-existent - with such artists usually only receiving 'reviews' from family members conscious of hurting their feelings, or trolls on IMDb who are determined to belittle even the most accomplished project. Seeing this gap, I decided to launch Indy Film Library as a way to supply professional independent feedback to independent filmmakers. As well as writing detailed evaluations of films from across the world, we also host an annual exhibition of our best submissions in Amsterdam, in a bid to show newcomers to the craft what the best practices of Indy Film are.
