I am a data engineering professional with several years of experience working in the field. I began my journey into the world of data after enrolling in the MSBA program at CU Boulder. In that program, I learned the fundamentals of Data Analytics, and gained an understanding of how data can be used for descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics. My time in the MSBA prepared me with a fundamental understanding of the theory behind data analytics, as well as a baseline skillset with which I could act on that understanding. After graduating, I was very fortunate to be hired by DAS42, a data engineering and analytics consulting firm. At DAS42, I have grown into the data professional I am today. My job at DAS42 made me understand the importance of data engineering, where I worked with clients to create robust ETL/ELT pipelines to create single sources of truth, all centered around cloud data warehousing solutions. These pipelines would go on to power higher level analytical functions, from routine financial reporting to machine learning applications. During my time at DAS42, I found a particular interest in Snowflake as a cloud data warehousing solution. This interest materialized in my certification as a Snowflake SnowPro Advanced: Architect. I am also experienced with other cloud data platforms, such as Microsoft Azure and AWS, as well as distributed processing frameworks like Spark and Hadoop. I am always looking for an opportunity to learn more about innovative technologies like these.Going forward, my goal is to involve myself in data engineering roles where I work with cloud architectures to create data pipelines. I am particularly interested in working with pipelines where the end product is a machine learning based application of some sort. One key take away from my experience thus far is that ML models and other predictive analytics are only as good as your data is, and I intend to use my data engineering expertise to create robust pipelines that produce good data.Portfolio and Personal Projects: www.jackbeck97.com
