At Rwinter tooling we design and make precision parts for a wide range of customers being Automation, aerospace and in the Marine industry. My Job role is a Programmer, setter and operator. As a machinist i like to set myself challenges and overcome them as I believe it makes me a better engineer. The work I like to do are intricate parts primarily on a 5-Axis machine.

After the completion of my apprenticeship I decided to go to a company in which dealt primarily in production work to which I learnt further ways of work holdings, quality assurance and time reduction. Saxon engineering helped me understand that time has to be at a minimum whilst maintaining part accuracy consisting in 50+ off margin

I started my apprenticeship at Phoenix straight after I left school as I was given the opportunity through connections at Greenacre Academy that obtained the apprenticeship from Phoenix tooling. My Engineering teachers were approached and asked if any students would be interested in an apprenticeship. I was offered the position and I accepted. Once started I was learning the job aswell as going to college one day a week, the course was for a “Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Mechanical Manufacturing” as well as a “Level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering - CNC Machining”. The course time was for 3 years but I managed to complete within 2 years because I applied myself and learnt quickly. Throughout the time period at Phoenix Tooling I was mentored and trained to operate to then eventually setting jobs and tools for mainly a Mazak i500 (5-Axis) . Then leading to understanding the making of fixtures for the different types and complexity of holding jobs.
