Helped create the Energy Map, a project that graphically displays the work of clean energy entrepreneurs all over the globe. The Energy Map is a resource for entrepreneurs to learn from the best practices and business models of some of the most innovative and disruptive enterprises.I was also responsible for conducting research for, drafting, and editing publications focused on distributed energy technologies as well as giving presentations at advisory board and university donor meetings.

GRUPEDSAC contributes to education and sustainable development in impoverished parts of rural Mexico. This is done through comprehensive programs that promote environmental awareness, behavior change, self-reliance, self-development and productivity, as well as the care of natural resources.During this project I focused on permaculture and sustainable engineering projects for the poor. I conducted field research in marginalized rural communities regarding ecotechnologies such as water cisterns, sustainable toilets, and earth building techniques. Ultimately, I produced a detailed, step-by-step technical manual describing how to replicate these projects.

During this fellowship, I worked with Lifeline Energy, a social enterprise working to spread education to rural communities through the use of radio-based learning programs. I distilled my experiences with a local expert into a comprehensive agro-forestry guide based on sustainable practices. The guide details everything from siting and building a farm to processing, marketing, and selling finished products, and is currently being used by several organizations in Zambia. Part of this also involved researching and analyzing the supply chain of charcoal from rural producers to urban users. I produced a preliminary analysis on the economics of this system and its impacts on the environment, which later became the basis for my Senior Honors thesis.
