In the summer of 2011, I was hired by UWSP Web & Media Services as a SharePoint Developer and Webweaver. The university had recently completed an installation of SharePoint 2010, and hired a team of nine students to complete the transition of its 200+ front-end websites from ASP.NET pages into SharePoint 2010. Each team member worked directly with a member of each site's respective department to ensure that all of the site's content was up-to-date, efficiently organized, catered towards public audiences, and designed to the department's specifications. After the site was completed, we also taught the client how to edit their new site. When students and faculty returned at the end of summer, we had already completed the transition of roughly 70 sites.My experience at Web & Media Services went beyond web development and client interaction. I was asked in spring of 2012 to work with two other student employees to conduct job interviews for two open positions on our team. We gathered resumes, organized and conducted interviews, and submitted our two best recommendations to our boss, who went on to hire them! In spring of 2013, most of our team was graduating, so again we were asked to conduct interviews to fill another six opening positions.After the graduation of most of the original team, I was promoted to the new position of Team Leader of the SharePoint student employees. Tasks included all of my previous responsibilities, along with instructing the new employees in SharePoint and responsive design, and assisting them in solving any difficult problems they ran into. I left UWSP Web & Media Services when I graduated in December of 2013.
