Projects include the delivery of new substations, overhead line, and cable to facilitate connection of renewable energy generators to support the development of the north of Scotland's electricity transmission network to support the drive to Net Zero.

Working along side the Head of Fleet and the Leadership team with the goal to fully electrify OVO’s fleet by 2025. My team and I collaborated with internal and external stakeholders to address obstacles that acted as barriers to unlocking progress to electrifying our fleet, developing and implementing goals, objectives, policies and priorities to identify opportunities for improving our fleet of commercial vehicles. I prepared, monitored and managed the capital and COGS budgets for Fleet in conjunction with the Finance Department while working with the Head of Fleet on the selections of replacement vehicles on a rotational basis to achieve best operational reliability and value for money. I led the project with the goal to install c.250 electric vehicle charge points in our engineers homes that financial year coinciding with implementing c.1000 newly acquired electric vehicles. This was on track and successfully handed over for completion prior to my departure.

Managed 2200 vans and 160 cars totalling c.9m per annum for the retail business. Managing mobile devices and equipment of 2000+ devices for the Operations business. Developed an assets database for the above and maintained this to ensure all staff across the business are compliant and can manage effectively with accurate cost measures ensuring operation excellence.

Managed a large team of Metering staff over the vast area of North East Scotland. Regularly deputising for my Regional Manager working alongside Senior Leadership to ensure we meet and exceed all company KPI’s. Our team regularly set the standards in performance and safety. I took on numerous extra projects in this role including, asset coordinating, compliance and distribution, training / upskilling, procedure writing for customer vulnerability, hiring Coaches and Engineers. During this time i managed a second depot in the West of Scotland through the full Smart transition. On the back of delivering this project I was nominated for the award ‘Manager who went the extra mile’ at our Operation’s Yearly Award Ceremony.

Tayside

Within this role at SSE I coached a rapidly growing team across the North and Central belt of Scotland, dealing with day to day technical issues, carrying out monthly audits, training and the sign offs of newly trained engineers. Working closely with Managers and Regional Managers to ensure we get things done brilliantly. I was chosen as the subject matter expert to represent operations in an external audit by OFGEM to ensure the business could demonstrate compliance with the SMICoP

I came to SSE with no metering experience but I passed my training and quickly became a competent engineer installing smart meters across the region. Having a vast gas background I was able to quickly adapt to all company procedures and exceed expectations. Here I maintained one of the best completion rates in the UK of meters per man per day while travelling 2 hours out of my area.

Scotland

Self-employed heating engineer where I mostly carried out one day central heating installations. We worked sub-contracted for various types of companies, I was fully accountable for the businesses P&L. Tendering for contracts with local councils, housing associations and major energy providers. I was apart of hiring full central heating teams which included many sub-contractors. I took full responsibility of the daily operations, managing performance and mitigating risk to delivery. Here I also successfully trained two apprentice Heating Engineers helping them get through their final years and pass their final exams with flying colours.
