Dr Ford has authored 3 books, 15 chapters in 8 other books, 26 commissioned reports, 1 heritage trail booklet, 4 war memorial inscriptions & 3 heritage signs. He has produced numerous history articles for 14 varied journals, delivered 9 conference papers, written 25 history book reviews, as well as mounted many public exhibitions/displays, including at the annual 'HISTORY ALIVE' two-day event. He is in demand as a guest speaker for a variety (25) of organisations, plus, as a history commentator for the Brisbane media. He was one of the presenters for the ABC-TV broadcast of the Brisbane ANZAC Day March (2010-15). He has university teaching & (Ph.D.) examination experience & has undertaken museum & library display projects. He authored "AMERICAN CIVIL WAR HERITAGE TRAIL, QUEENSLAND" as an Australian contribution to the ACW Sesquicentenary (2011-15). In August 2016, he was in the Netherlands for research & professional networking (profile pic.). In 2017, he co-authored "New Guinea Gold: COMMANDO comics in the Pacific" with Dr Phil Cass for 8th International Graphic Novel & Comics Conference, Uni of Dunedin, Scotland. He was Northside supervisor for Brisbane History Digital Mapping project. In August 2017, he led an Historic Houses Association of Australia's first heritage tour of Brisbane. From 2018-22. he has been on the Qld Urban Utilities' Cannery Creek Community Planning Team, where he gives historical research input. His joint chapter on Indigenous Representations in Australian comics was published in "Graphic Indigeneity: Comics in The Americas and Australasia" (Uni of Mississippi Press, 2020), From 2021-22, he has been contracted to research L. Ron Hubbard's important role in WWII Brisbane. This resulted in 'L. Ron Hubbard: World War II Brisbane's first US Naval appointee' in "Queensland History Journal" Vol.25, No.1, May 2022. He is doing a Profile on the first Mayor of the Gold Coast Project; & has been interviewed by the US-based CWRT Congress on Australian on-going research of the American Civil War. He has conducted 26 years of further research to update his 1995 Ph.D./book "ALLIES IN A BIND: Australia and the Netherlands East Indies during the Second World War" that he is endeavoring to get published in a 3rd edition.
