About Jack Green

Also known as John D.M. Green, I am the Jeffrey Horrell '75 and Rodney Rose Director and Chief Curator of the Richard and Carole Cocks Art Museum at Miami University within the College of Creative Arts at Miami University, Oxford, OH. Duties include the management and overseeing of the daily operations of the Art Museum and management of staff; Implementing of museum policies and procedures in accordance with University guidelines and professional best practices; management of accounts and approval of expenditures; conducting staff meetings and coordination of upcoming exhibitions and events; participation in divisional and university committees as well as advisory groups; conducting tours and giving lectures about collections and exhibitions; provide specialized advice about art and collecting; work with current and prospective donors; coordinating implementing and reviewing long-range planning strategies.Prior to this position, I held the position of Associate Director of the American Center of Research (ACOR), Amman, Jordan where I supported research and work with key partners and stakeholders on cultural heritage and archaeological projects including the Temple of Winged Lions Cultural Resource Management project at Petra, the Temple of the Winged Lions Publication Project, the ACOR Conservation Cooperative, and the USAID SCHEP Project. I was also a project director of the US Department of Education funded ACOR Library Photo Archive Project (2016-2020). My research and publication preparation includes work on the Tell es-Sa'idiyeh Cemetery Publication Project at the British Museum within the Middle East Department. I am also the director of the Temple of the Winged Lions Publication Project with ACOR, Jordan.As a museum professional and archaeologist, I am experienced within a range of areas including curating exhibits and permanent collections, coordination of public and academic programs, training programs, museum loans, grant administration, staff and project management, archaeological fieldwork, and cultural heritage projects. I have academic, lecturing/ teaching, and publications interests in the archaeology, history, and art history of the ancient Middle East and East Mediterranean, museum studies, cultural heritage studies, histories of archaeology, museums, and collections, the archaeology of death, and gender, personal ornamentation, and ceramics.
