• While working at VR Analytical I have gained skills in various sample preparation methods such as liquid-liquid extractions, headspace sample preparation, and dispersive liquid-liquid extractions for analytical testing. I have analyzed data for LC-MS/UV broad screening analyses for many different samples. I have also worked in a highly collaborative environment with interdepartmental communication, and because of this I have developed a broad understanding of many various analytical methods. While here, I have also led efforts to onboard a new instrument that will lead to a great efficiency gain for the lab by reducing time spent on processes while freeing up more space for additional work to be done when needed.

As a climbing instructor, I fostered a welcoming community for both those that are new to climbing and have been climbing before. I was trusted to make sure everyone was safe, answer questions, and teach various climbing techniques in classes. I also needed to be creative when setting routes to climb.

During this internship I helped scientists with various tests and was trusted to follow a non-disclosure agreement. I was also able to develop useful lab skills which benefited me in various labs afterward such as being able to clean various analytical instruments and glassware. Also, I was able to work and multitask under time constraints to meet a daily deadline as well as run various analytical tests such as instrument calibration, pH, using a balance, dissolution, particle size, and assisting in the preparation of HPLC samples.
