During my 40-year career in construction and insulation, I built and sold several successful companies. Using my knowledge of engineering, I patented approaches for the smooth application of spray foam insulation for commercial roofing. My teams installed over 8 million sq. ft. of energy-efficient foam insulated roofs for the largest developers in the USA.I founded Hunter Homes and Shelters in 2010 and, in 2021, I partnered with Tim Kaywood, a seasoned construction leader. Tim and I are on a mission to provide affordable, easy-to-build, comfortable and energy-efficient housing for communities around the world. Our products are ideal for post-disaster temporary housing and meeting long-term housing needs. We believe shelter is a basic human right and are committed to solving the global housing crisis. We will achieve this goal because we build homes differently than what has been done before.After selling my business and patented technology to a large public company, I launched Hunter Homes and Shelters. I have extensive knowledge in the chemical composition of polyurethane foam and recognized its tremendous strength and potential. Using advanced technology and chemistry, I created and patented a new type of structurally insulated panel (SIP) using compressed polyurethane foam. Our SIPs are lightweight, durable and highly energy efficient, unlike anything on the market.With architects and engineers, I developed designs for buildings that meet FEMA standards, are energy efficient, hurricane resistant, simple to build and easy to transport. Our first units were built in Haiti in response to a devastating earthquake.Our buildings can be constructed rapidly, in just hours, by small teams of workers with basic tools and ladders. Structures can be built with solar generators off the grid with self-contained amenities which include air-conditioning and plumbing. We have a wide variety design for homes, health clinics, schools and barracks.
