Mlb Scout Liaison And Baseball Operations Analyst

In the spring of 2022 I was re-hired by the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the Cape Cod Baseball League as their MLB Scout Liaison, as well as a member of their baseball operations team. In order to be successful in this role, I was required to move to the Cape Cod for the summer. Prior to the season, I was involved with forming the team, which consisted of top collegiate prospects from around the country. I was asked to keep up with specific players' stats along with creating scouting reports for the general manager, in order to help him make the best decisions possible. This type of work continued throughout the season as we created scouting reports on opposing teams in order to create an edge. As the MLB Scout Liaison for the team, I was essentially the middle man for the prospects and scouts. I communicated with scouts from all over the MLB on a daily basis both over the phone and in person to attend to all of their questions and needs regarding the prospects, along with providing my own insight. Another important aspect of my job was to run a private twitter account which is only followed by MLB scouts, analysts, and executives. Every day I added to this account in order to inform them about transactions, starting pitchers, lineups, etc. Towards the midway point of the season, I was contacted by members of the S2Cognition organization. S2Cognition is a sports science organization that uses their technology to evaluate athletes. S2Cognition was looking to gather information on our players which would be sent to 10 different MLB teams. After discussing with S2Cognition for some time, I was able to organize a session for them to come in and gather information on our prospects for their MLB clients. I feel very fortunate to have had this opportunity, as I met a lot of great people, and formed many relationships that will continue for years to come.

Sports Insurance Data Analyst

Vifil Inc.

I worked on a weekly basis as an analyst for Vifil Inc, a start-up company that provides an easier way for athletes to purchase disability insurance through a digital platform. Reel Media underwrites based on data analysis as opposed to medical underwriting. I was hired along with other college students and a team in India to collect data on all NCAA, NHL, NFL, NBA and MLB players going back 20 years to the present. We analyzed the data along with evaluating talent, injury history, off-field/moral issues, etc. We also collected data regarding the insurance of large contests, giveaways, and other promotions.

Hyannis Harbor Hawks (Cape Cod Baseball League) Gameday Operations Intern

Hyannis, Massachusetts, United States

During this internship I rented living space in Yarmouth, MA, which is about 15 minutes from McKeon Park, the Harbor Hawks home field. I helped with everything from stadium management to analyzing players. This internship taught me a lot about the importance of the fan experience. Setting up the stadium, greeting fans, and helping fans keep track of players’ strengths and weaknesses, we’re all necessary tasks that I had to manage. This internship also taught me a great deal about the process of scouting and team management. Talking with MLB scouts, being inside the dugout, and even spending time with players outside of the stadium, allowed me to see many different perspectives and get a feel for the necessary processes of this complex business.

Food Guys Mv

Food Guys Mv

Amherst Ma

During the end of my Junior year of High School, my friend and I created a delivery service for groceries and other necessities called Food Guys. Food Guys took place in Edgartown, Martha's Vineyard, a fairly small town that is filled with tourists and vacationers over the summer. Having spent time there in past summers, we began to realize how much of a hassle it was to go grocery shopping, considering Edgartown only had one major grocery store in the whole town. We felt that if we could create a reasonably priced service that was available 7 days a week, tourists and vacationers would be more inclined to pay the extra fee, rather than waste their vacation time in a crowded grocery store. Our first step was to create a website which would allow customers to order online. After creating the website we built relationships with many local businesses such as the one grocery store, hotels, restaurants, and many of the local tourist attractions in the area, which led to them referring their customers to us. Building these relationships turned out to be extremely beneficial and was the main factor in creating a successful business. We were in the process of bringing Food Guys to UMass Amherst, however we were unable to due to the pandemic.
