At West End Music School, I was employed in September 2021 after being recommended to the job. I played guitar and drums for 5 years prior to getting the position and immediately began developing a solid client base. Most of the people I taught were children, which allowed me to learn how to work with kids by using a combination of wit, charm, and genuine knowledge they could take away from each lesson. Lessons were usually one-on-one, however there was an opportunity where I instructed two brothers, both on different instruments, on how to play music together in preparation for a recital. Furthermore, I was given the opportunity to substitute for other teachers while they were away and was even put in charge of the business and its maintenance while the owner was away.The most important takeaway that I had from this is that even masters should still be students and always work on improving their skillset. Through this job, I met some fantastic teachers who were truly masters of their instruments, but they were always working on learning a new technique or song. Overall, the work experience has been fantastic and I would strongly recommend it!
